Anatolian Journal of Biology

Anatolian Journal of Biology, orijinal araştırma makaleleri, derlemeler ve mini-derlemeler, kısa notlar, vaka çalışmaları ve editöre mektupları yayınlayarak literatüre katkıda bulunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Anatolian Journal of Biology, mikrobiyoloji, biyoteknoloji, moleküler biyoloji ve genetik, biyokimya, botanik, zooloji, çevre biyolojisi, hidrobiyoloji, tarım, veterinerlik ve gıda bilimi dahil olmak üzere biyolojinin tüm yönleriyle ilgili çok disiplinli bir forum sunar. Dergi, önde gelen bilim adamlarının çalışmalarını bu alanlarla sınırlı kalmadan, biyolojinin her alanında hızlı ve adil bir ortamda sunmaları ve yayınlamaları için bir platform sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. 

Anatolian Journal of Biology 2020 yılında yayınlanmaya başlayacaktır. Açık erişimli, uluslararası hakemli bir bilimsel dergidir. Haziran ve aralık aylarında olmak üzere yılda iki sayı olarak yayın yapmaktadır. Makale değerlendirme işlemleri ve yayınlama ücretsizdir. Dergimize sadece İngilizce çalışmalar kabul edilecektir. Her başvuru çift-kör hakem değerlendirme sürecinden geçecektir. Makaleler en az iki harici, bağımsız hakem tarafından gözden geçirilecektir.

AUTHOR GUIDELINES FOR ANATOLIAN JOURNAL OF BIOLOGY

Anatolian Journal of Biology is a publication fee free and open access journal. 

Please follow this guideline to format your manuscript before submitting. 

Style and Format:  Manuscripts should be written in single column and using double space. Page margins should be 2.5-cm on all sides of the page and Times New Roman font with size 11 should be used throughout the whole manuscript.

A line space should be used between paragraphs and sections. There also should be a line space between section titles and text. 

Every page of the manuscript, including the title page, references, tables, etc., should be numbered and each page of the of the manuscript should also have line numbers starting with 1 on each consecutive page.

Manuscripts must be uploaded as word document either in *.doc, or *.docx format. Uploading the manuscripts in *.pdf format is not accepted. 

Manuscript should be written in English.

Symbols, Units and Abbreviations: Standard symbols units and abbreviations should be used. We recommend the usage of SI units. Any abbreviation should be defined at first appearance. Abstract and title should not contain any abbreviation. For chemicals generics names should be used. Genus and species names should be formatted as italic or underlined when it is needed. 

Manuscript Content: The manuscript should be divided into the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods (or Experimental), Results and Discussion, and Conclusion. Every section should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (1. Introduction, 2. Formulation of problem, etc.) and if subsections are planned they should be numbered as 1.1., 1.2., etc.  Acknowledgements or References sections does not need numbering. 

Title and contact information

The first page should contain the full title in sentence case. Full names (last names fully capitalized) and affiliations (in English) of all authors (Department, Faculty, University, City, Country, E-mail) should also added. Contact e-mail address of corresponding author should be the clearly identified. Abstract and keywords also need to be added to the first page.

Abstract

Abstract cannot be longer than 300 words and should not include any citations. Specialist abbreviations should be avoided if possible. Authors should summarize their research by providing a clear information about the research in three conceptual sections: 

Background: A statement of main research question should be included.

Methodology/Main findings: Here the techniques used during the research should be included without giving any detail together with a summary of most significant findings. If it is possible any key numerical results with measures of error should also be added

Conclusion: Authors should briefly address the study’s implications.   

Keywords: For indexing purposes, 3-5 keywords should be provided.

Introduction

Research question and the motivation of the study should be clearly mentioned in this section by providing a historical base for the current work.

Materials/Methods

In this section a sufficient amount of information should be provided so that the reader can repeat the work. Experimental design, sampling procedures, and statistical procedures should be clearly described. Location and name of the manufacturer of any listed product should also be addressed. 

Results and Discussion 

Results should be stated concisely and without interpretation. The discussion part should present the author's results by comparing to and differentiating from the other results in the literature while interpreting them with a minimum of speculation.

Conclusion

This should state clearly the main conclusions of the research and give a clear explanation of their importance and relevance. Summary illustrations may be included.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgements of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section before the reference list. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.

References

AJB follows the IEEE citation style. Accordingly, citations should be identified by numbers in square brackets. Bibliography/list of references should be given in order of their first appearance. All authors should be included in reference lists unless there are 5 or more, in which case only the first 5 should be given, followed by ‘et al.’. When citing multiple sources at once, they should be put in the same brackets as in [2,3,5–9]. Personal communications, unpublished data, websites, or other unpublished materials cannot be used as references however they can be indicated in parentheses. If the referenced material is in any other language than English, the published English title should be provided if one exists, with an annotation such as “(article in Turkish with an abstract in English)”. If the original English title is not available cite the original title only; do not provide a self-translation.

Tables and Figures

All illustrations (photographs, drawings, graphs, etc.), must be labelled “Figure.”

All tables and figures must have a caption and/or legend and be numbered (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2). If the manuscript contains only one table or figure it can be labeled as “Table” or “Figure” without numbering. 

Captions must be written in sentence case with Times New Roman. If symbols are need such as μor η they should be added using the Symbols menu of Word.

All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively as they are referred to in the text. Please refer to tables and figures with capitalization and unabbreviated (e.g., “As shown in Figure 2…”, and not “Fig. 2” or “figure 2”).

The resolution of images should not be less than 118 pixels/cm and they should be scanned at 1200 dpi resolution. They should be submitted in jpeg or tiff format. Graphs and diagrams must be drawn with a line weight between 0.5 and 1 point.  Scanned or photocopied graphs and diagrams are not accepted.

Charts, diagrams, or drawings must be submitted as they are pasted on a word document. 

Anatolian Journal of Biology Haziran ve Aralık aylarında olmak üzere yılda iki kez yayımlanan uluslararası hakemli bir dergidir. Dergide; Biyoloji ve ilişkili bilimler kapsamına giren özgün araştırma makaleleri, kısa makaleler, derlemeler yayımlanabilir.

Derginin yayıncısı, editörü ve yayın kurulu yazarların belirtmiş olduğu görüş ve düşünceler ile doğabilecek etik ihlallerinin sorumluluğunu kabul etmekle yükümlü olmayıp dergide yer alan makale ve yazıların sorumluluğu yazar(lar)ına aittir.

Dergiye yayımlanmak üzere gönderilen çalışmalar öncelikle şekil/yazım şartları bakımından ön değerlendirmeye alınır. Yazım kuralları ve akademik dil itibariyle şartları sağlamayan çalışmalar hakemlere gönderilmeksizin yazarlarına geri iade edilir. Şartlara uygun olan çalışmalar ise bilimsel inceleme için en az üç hakeme gönderilir. Makaleyi değerlendiren hakemlerin kimlikleri hakkında yazarlara bilgi verilmez. Hakem raporları gizlidir. Hakemlerden olumlu rapor alamayan makaleler yayımlanmaz; bu konuda idari ve adli sorumluluk kabul edilmez. Hakemler tarafından düzeltme istenen yazılar ise gerekli değişiklikler için yazar(lar)a geri gönderilir. Düzeltilmiş metni belirtilen süre içerisinde dergiye ulaştırmak yazar(lar)ın sorumluluğundadır.

Dergide yayımlanacak olan eserler, daha önce bir başka dergide yayımlanmamış, yayımlanmak üzere gönderilmemiş ya da yayım için kabul edilmemiş olmalıdır. Herhangi bir bilimsel toplantıda sunulmuş ancak tam metin olarak yayımlanmamış yazılarda, toplantının adı, yeri ve tarihi belirtilmelidir.

Anatolian Journal of Biology herhangi bir yayın ücreti talep etmemektedir.
